Interactive light  sculpture
The participant plays with the handles placed on both sides, that control the small circular light fixture to create sculptural light reflections. The thin film fastened within creates these reflections. The process is supposed to be repetitive and beautiful to calm the nerves and relax the mind. A depth sensor that is hidden within the sculpture detects when a person is present and plays ambient bird noises to ease you into a meditative state.
The light effects are programmed in Arduino software with FastLED library sample effects. The color transitions of the light fixture are specifically programmed and created by me. The depth sensor that detects when a person is present is also programmed in Arduino. It sends the signals ON and OFF through serial communication to P5.js. P5.js has two preloaded sound effects and plays them when it is signalled.
