This collection is a contemporary interpretation of ancient ritual chalices and ceremonial cups, re imagined through the medium of blown glass.
Unlike metal or ceramic ritual vessels, glass offers its own distinct symbolism; transparency, fragility, purity, and transformation. I wanted to explore these qualities with the use and placement of color, specifically the layering and mixing oflarge pieces of color. The mixing of two highly different colors create very unique moments.
Structurally, I set out to design a drinking vessel where the liquid could flow into and gather within the stem creating an extended and never ending pour.
