This application was inspired by my research into color theory which led to my curiosity to learn how to extract color information from digital content. I created this application to take information from an existing video and extract color information in the means of a graph. This application can be changed to extract color information from different external inputs for example: live video input. The color information acquired can also be used to create another action or re-action through openFrameworks software.
This research was inspired by artist Matthew Biederman’s installation Event Horizons. The footage from a projection created for this art installation really caught my attention. The way the color moves across the screen, the contrast created and the variation/change in speed really sets this footage apart. Below is a snippet I used in my research from his video from Event Horizons.
